Not much to update you on today. Last night I went to see the movie My Old Ass, and contrary to what that title might suggest to some, it was absolutely wonderful. You can read my review if you're looking for lengthier content today. I gave it an A-minus.

Laney was supposed to come with me, but she had to bail. She seemed to have gotten a possible rebound on the cold she thought she had just gotten over and apparently felt really crappy. It was a bummer, less because I didn't get company for the movie (although that qualified too!) than because she really missed out.

I was crying at the end of that movie, which I really did not expect. A lot of it is kind of obvious and on the nose, and I don't care. I loved it anyway. Let people love what they love! (I still stand by my gushing love for Maestro. I was really in the minority on that one.)

Anyway. The movie was at 5:40. I biked home from work, put my helmet away, immediately turned around and walked back downtown to Pacific Place. I walked back home after, fried up the last of our delicious frozen parathas, and had them with the eggplant dish Shobhit had prepared for dinner as I wrote my review.

What else, then? Work is going fine. Gabby ordered herself a Moto Pizza and I walked over there and back with her. She confides in me a lot, particularly about work stuff, which to me only indicates the trust I engender. That's something I'm actually proud of.

We have Action Movie Night tonight at the Braebun Condos theater. Shobhit has a rehearsal so he won't be able to make it, but I will. The same thing is going to happen on his birthday, which was part of why I decided to take that day off of work, so we could spend the day together before the evening.

Oh, speaking of which: I finally put in for my pre-Christmas PTO. I got no pushback about it, so that makes me happy: this and the Thanksgiving Week vacation will cover any days that office staff are asked to work holiday shifts at stores. It's possible this could still change—I kind of doubt it, but we'll see—but it's looking like yet another year in which I've managed to weasel out of that shit. I suppose someone could guilt trip me about this, my disinclination to "volunteer" to work at stors when I am so outspoken about my love for this company, but whatever. I have to burn through my PTO sometime, right? We lose any hours above a balance of 120 if we don't use it, so goddammit I'm going to use it.
