Sat, 15:46: Okay well my work day today did not go at all as anticipated, but it was because of very positive news.
This is how it unfolded:
10 a.m.: Meeting at the office. Office staff is informed; my jaw drops; I kind of dreaded the long-known plan to move out of this office space I love so much, but can't think of a better alternate choice than this. It's going to bring office and store staff closer together; we'll have a central office space adjacent to a retail store for the first time in decades; it's on the ground floor of Seattle's second-tallest building; it's going to cut my commute in half (and it was already pretty easy).
11:01 a.m.: Email announcement is sent out to All Store & Office Staff.
11:40 a.m.: Email announcement is sent out to all PCC co-op members.
11:55 a.m.: News stories begin to appear on online news outlets.
They really like to keep news like this quiet, even to most of the staff, until literally minutes before larger groups start getting informed. I get it. In any event we're looking at some very exciting changes around here over the next year.
